India’s BJP Government and Health: One Year On
Please see this sobering view of the central government of India position on health from The Lancet. The central budget has been cut by fifteen percent. Central monies are being given to states for them to spend as they see fit. There seems to be a hope that the private sector will fill in the gaps. This is likely to be the case only for the needs of the very wealthy. The poor and the mid to lower middle class may be left to fend for themselves without much help from the central government. One can only hope that state governments will pick up the slack as they can. It is likely only the richest states that will be able to do so. Read full report here
